Ashanti Weights: Heritage, Transmission, and Symbols ↗️

Used between the 13th and 19th centuries by the Akan peoples of Ghana and Ivory Coast, Ashanti weights were used to measure gold, the main currency of the region.

Far more than simple weighing instruments, these brass objects carry a symbolic language inspired by proverbs and social values ​​— a cultural heritage that continues to inspire contemporary craftsmanship and creation today.
